When using rangefinders in golf, there are two types to choose from:
Laser Rangefinders – When using a laser rangefinder, the target you are aiming for must be in view as the device measures the distance by sending out a laser beam. Once you have chosen your target, pull the trigger on the rangefinder and you will be informed of the distance.
GPS Rangefinders – To use a GPS rangefinder, you will need to download the course you are playing onto the device ahead of time. Next, you’ll need to select the hole you are playing. Once you’ve done this, select the target and it will then judge the distance between that and your current position.
Rangefinders are very useful in golf, but their use does carry some restrictions. I had a look at this website to learn more about the restrictions before purchasing a device.
